A thin-walled, erect, spineless, hairless, gregarious bamboo usually reaching a height of about 10 to 12 meters and a diameter of 5 to 9 cm. The clumps are open, loose, and unarmed. Its internodes are green, hollow, 25 to 50 cm long, 4 to 6 cm in diameter. Its walls are 4 to 5 mm thick. Its leaves are 30 to 36 cm long, 2 to 5.3 cm wide and there are as many as eight leaves in a branch.
Distribution: This bamboo is a native to the Philippines and is widely distributed. It occurs intensively in Panay, Leyte. Several groves can be found in Siquijor and Mindanao.
