Tree. Height : 18 to 24 meters. Trunk: bole erect, lean, branching starts at about 10 meters, apparent buttress on older trees; Bark smooth and constantly peeling (a process that leaves a perpetuating change of color on the bark ranging from dull green to greyish blue to rusty brown). Leaves : Opposite to alternate; Linear to lanceolate; Green to blue-green; Aromatic when crushed. Wood. Reddish-brown, grain is straight interlocked, texture is medium to coarse, lustrous, moderately durable.
Distribution: Native to the Philippines and other western Pacific islands, including Australia and New Guinea. Favored as a plantation species throughout the world in lowland humid tropics.
