A deciduous tree which has a very remarkable growth rate. In a reasonable good site, it takes only 3 years to attain a merchantable timber size of 5.8-8.3 meters with 10-15 cm diameter. Generally, the wood of yemane is rated as nondurable. However, denser heartwood is moderately durable and resistance to termite attack varies. Reddish brown, grain is interlocked straight, texture is medium to coarse, lustrous, and moderately durable.
Distribution: Native to India, Pakistan, Northern Rhodesia and Malaysia. Widely planted in the Philippines.
